Communication in these days is very convenient. There are many ways and channels you can use. Nevertheless, in the past, it was much more different. At that time, communication between people who lived far from each other was very difficult. Afterwards, telephone was invented to be a tool of communication. More than 130 years ago, telephone had become a part of people lives. There were no numbers on the phones. People held to their ears and another part they talked to anyone who had a phone. Moreover, the price of telephone was high, so not many people had them.
More and more people got telephones, so the companies started using operators to connect people. The operators would connect the name of person people wanted to call. Sometimes, it took too long time to make a call. Later in 1892, the first telephone system that did not need an operator was built. People could ring the number the person they wanted to call. The telephone system was easier to use, so more and more people had telephones at their homes. By 1970, nearly every house in the United States had telephones. Afterwards, there were telephones for people to use in the street, on stores, office buildings, and other public places. Then, the communication was much more easier.
Nowadays, there are many news communication tools. Things are changing again. Some people do not need telephones any more. It is because of new communication tools called 'cell phones'. Moreover, some people think that the telephones are 'old style'. They do not need it anymore. With a cell phone, they can call anyone from anywhere. Since cell phone services are less expensive, fewer and fewer people use telephone at their homes. The communication tools between people are more and more convenient to use. Perhaps, cell phones, the modern thing in these days, could be the old style like telephones in the future.
